The Art of Slipped Stitch

While I was traveling a new book came out!
Faina and Simona are a wonderful design team. You may be acquainted with their previous book The Art of Seamless Knitting, with beautiful patterns created in one piece.
Like their previous book, this new work does not disappoint. I tend to think of Faina and Simona as the designers of "the little black dress", the staples that you need to have in your wardrobe and on your bookshelf.

The Art of Slipped Stitch focuses on not only the technique but provides you with a stitchionary of 40 patterns for further use. Faina and Simona create a winning combination, blending classic fashion with modern style. In the book you will learn how to work slipped stitches in solid or multiple colours, varying textures, and how to use slipped stitches for shaping.

I had the privilege of meeting up with Faina at Vogue Knitting Live Chicago last week, where she teaching the wonderful techniques presented in both books. Teaching is one of the things Faina is passionate about. This carries over into the book. There are both small and beginninger projects to help you build your confidence in working up to the larger and more deatiled ones. While these designs may seem complicated or daunting, they are wonderfully explained to walk you through creating beautiful garments. If you have a chance to take a class either online or in person with Simona or Faina, I would highly encourage it.

A few of my favourites are Gobelen,  Kromka and Siska.
(The book has a pronunciation guide as well for the Czech and Russian words.)
