awaiting love's first kiss

Zemeira loves sleeping beauty. she was even born in aurora.
Mommie' s wheel was wrapped up nicely in the quilt.
But there was a princess waiting to act out the story.
" she will prick her finger and DIE!" the dramatic child exclaims and falls to the ground. " Shh I am waiting for loves kiss!" she tells the giggling mama/fairy.

brooke's got me in trouble now...

so next saturday, jessica and i are going to Sac for a class on spinning. just drop spindles.
cuz her pal sent her "dowls with hooks" and we are gonna learn what to do with them. Brooke lent me her drop spindle to use cuz she has a "race car" spinning wheel now. she is addicted.
so while we were in town for lunch we decided to walk around and window shop. it is something i suck at. i always buy something.
sam went in one store i went in another... i bought some fabulous dry lavender for $5.
He however bought a spinning wheel.
Seriously!
the peddle says "New Zealand J rappard the address... and 195779 which think means 1979 was when it was made. come to find out rappard was the brand ashford bought when "john" retired. i am not sure what the difference is between the "little peggy" and the "wee peggy". but i have one of those.
here is a picture off the web so you can see what it is like. i have to clean mine up and get my own pictures.
you gotta love a man who embraces your dreams. no matter how crazy they are!

side note: Thanks for all the sweet comments and the love! but mostly for not asking why. continue to pray for my family. deep heartaches are long to heal, and this one is a BIG one.

the big dump

so i had my SP8 group dump their knitting bags and explain what was in it/them.
there is a prize for those who participated. names will be placed into a drawing. oooh aaah.
there were nice organized bags, and bags that look more like mine...casualties of startitis. to the one project in one bag people...how do you do it? you are so monogamus it is scary!
i am in awe of your discipline.
i will email the winner and figure out how to post it secretly...any ideas?

summer here is crazy! 110 degrees is really hot when you have no AC or swamp cooler, and the lot with the trees was gutted for a house and now you have full sun! we hide at Barnes and noble on sunday for a few hours. read books. stayed cool. even my LYS was hot cuz ponderosa realty couldnt leave their AC office and fix anything. they work for the slum lord who wont repair/replace the AC. too hot to knit!
the yarn does not slide thru my fingers. i want to get my master knitters course done and mailed this week. 1 swatch and a couple questions and blocking my swatches...that is all to do at this point besides wait for the critique. the criteria changes Aug 1.

i had a wonderful surprise in the mail. STASH tea sent new fall teas to try. oooooh! the pomegranite raspberry, white chai, pumpkin spice decaf are the ones i will be buying as they come available! Thanks Stash and Mitzi!

OS pal

i have no idea where the camera is. it is too hot to even look. but!
i got a great package from my one skein pal.
tali had really done in her petal bib, cuz i refuse to just let it go unused. so i was thinking as i did the laundry how much i wanted to make her a darker one.
having magical powers, my pal picked up on this and sent Rowan handknit cotton. so hurray! and it is my first Rowan ever...so very excited!!
also i had seen on some one blog lavendar chocolate and was telling my mom, cuz i love lavendar, what a fun idea. Again the magical powers ... viola! lavendar chocolate. what i did not know is it has blueberries too. in coming from the airconditioned Post office to my house...it is a lil soft, so that is the the fridge. they other 2 bars of yummy dark chocolate were eaten after tali decided to bite thru the wrapper of one as it sat on the ottoman. so to be fair all the kids had a bite. ;-) it was declared to be very good!

to top it off in the box were some very sweet red flowers stitch markers. i heart stitch markers!
so thank you pal with super hero powers! your package was magic.

now back to filling the kiddie pool.....

look i have new clothes!

Details... Details...
Cascade Pearl 2.3 balls
Addi US 5
pattern from baby... bebe... bambino...
size 6-9 mons

the front and back were made and seamed then stitches PU around the tummy to create the little skirt. tali wears a 6-9 mons size, so i was worried about it fitting, but it does. perfectly. i was sooo happy when i put it on her last night.
i have not blocked it yet....

cuz Shelby wants to know

1) What is your favorite season of the year? Autumn
2) Where is your favorite vacation spot? yearly trips tp joshfest, cuz wherelse can you camp out with 60 rock bands, skateboarders teach your kids tricks (cuz you are sooo uncoordinated) and you get to hang with medrith at "the wool room". ok so i havent really had a "vacation" this is as close as it gets. ;-)
3) If you could visit any place in the world, where would it be? prague, cuz i would cry if i had to leave israel and not get to stay again.
4) If you could pick any job, and be paid well, what would it be? to play with yarn allday and get paid even if it was so ugly no one wanted to make it.
5) If you were going on vacation for 1 week, and had to take ONLY one project with you, what would it be? oops, becka kindly pointed out i forgot to answer. if it was a vacation where we had lots of stuff to do i would bring something like a neck-down, knit in the round top. it would be easily picked up, set down, gotten back to. if it was a quiet cabin by a lake kind of vacation i would bring something more complicated, cables mostlikely, but maybe even a charted lace shawl design. but in darker colours so it wouldn't get messy in "the wild" .
6) If you won a shopping spree to your favorite Yarn shop, what would you get?? could it be Webs? and how many shopping carts do i get to fill with yarn, patterns and needles? i would grab BAGS of yarn in stead of buying a skein at a time for a sweater's worth of wool.

on a deep deep deep dark step, on a deep deep deep dark ladder, in a deep deep deep dark cave the eyes of 6 little children lit up. ok, the grown ups' too.

I heart knit picks needles!

i can not even tell you how wonderful thet are. Pointy tips. slick surfaces. and did i mention for the price of 3-4 addi turbos!?! i can't wait to finish my noni with them! Thank you for the most wonderful bday present!

totally off topic, but the town i want desperately to live in, in israel, a town of musicians and artisans! is under attack.Watch out! they may make not only a political cartoon but a song to go with it to the disgrace of hamas and hezbalah. Please pray for them along with many other recipents of 300 bombs that have been launched at israel (this mornings count). Moze is out there too. pray for her family.
willing to pay for higher gas so Israel can have the right to exist.

Purple Passions of Project Colorswap

a purple package came yesterday!

inside was lovely frog tree in the month's hue, blackcurrant candies which the kids decided were weird, but GOOD and some yummy raspberry gummy candies, moose smooch lipgloss, a purple rubber ducky who is making friends with our pink ducky, purple crochet hook, purple lavender bath stuff, and a delicious purple journal.
it was all packaged so nicely, i doubt it even shifted at all in shipping! i took pictures but the camera is in my hubby's car....
so tonight i hope to post them! Thanks Erin! I love it!

when you give a kid a camera

.....and say take a picture of my new shirt....

you get a picture of a new shirt.

what you can't see is it is the colour of my eyes.
or the way the increases lined up.

what you can see is that i belong to the "3 B's" group. how the genetics for boobs found me in a family of implants, i will never know!
please ignore the tummy 6 babies have renovated, or i will never post another finished object on!
details.
Picovoli/Tivoli pattern.
i did the 36"size on a US size 6 (it calls for a size 4). addi's mean i have to size down a needle. so if you knit normal on them, a size 7.
mikado ribbon in Jungle, 6 balls
1" of k2,p2 ribbing to keep the bottom edge flat
i added short row shaping obviously..... but when i was making the pattern and deciding if i could actually wear it, i found size made posted, but not what they wore. i tried to get a bra sizer ...but what it says i wear is not what i wear, cuz it only goes up to d cups, and oprah says NOT to wear your sister size but your true size.... so no sister bra sizes!
i am getting frustrated with most patterns cuz they are 42" or 46" bust measurements. i am dead center. 44-44.5" (depends on if tali had her lunch...)
if i make the 42" will i be able to walk into church? do i want to be a sweater girl?
if i make the 46" will it be more matronly?
so if you have any advice on the subject....please let me know. i am happy with how the short row shaping turned out. but need to learn how to use it better. buy amy's book, right?
may be after i have a working dryer. lol!

choka sock contest

did you see the summer knitty is up?????
this was the issue i was going to submit to but we were in the hospital with baby tali.
my pattern coulda worked well with them, drat.
for one designer her excitement over being published has lead to a contest. add a couplet ( 7 syllables, 5 syllables) to the longest poem and you can be entered into it. if you dont like yarn, enter any ways, you can always send your prize to , oh, me????? heehee

my entry:
Lil Red won't get anything done,
if the yarn isn't wound

what looks like black jawoll is actually purple and black. it and the lorna's laces in purple and green are from the wool room in quincy. lewis spent more $ than i did there! heehee. the boy has good taste! the rest is from the sacramento trip... minus a few things that were gifted and a few patterns i have filed away.

Sac part 2

Tali was given a wonderful balloon. she loved it! Pix of frog pond knits and filatis...ok a 1/4 of filati's at best.

knitting in Sacramento

Wed morning we loaded into Lacy ZigZag's "car" and headed off to Sac for a birthday tour of the yarn shops. Lucy is holding Tali at Knit Wits where we met up.
our first stop was Knitique which was also my favourite store. VERY cute in Pink and Green colours and helpful, friendly FABULOUS staff. We got alot of great ideas and even though this was the first store i think it was where i spent the most $. I TRIED TO PACE MYSELF, but it was so wonderful! BTW- this was in my SOS exceptions, out of town excursion yarn!
After that we went to the Yarn Shop. which was a little cold, felt like a big city business. we were not greeted or talked to during our visit, and if there wasn't a good clearance box i woulda left without any purchases.
We almost missed Rumpelstiltskin's hole in the wall entrance. the book Alison and i have been looking for was there..... lorna's laces for $6! Chris got some wonderful dying yarns and colours. Cant wait to see what she does with it! they have alot of their own yarns, weaving and spinning supplies.
My Secret Stash was a small but friendly place were i brought home 3,000+ yds of chenille's for the dale of norway pattern i found at the previous store. She had some delicious buffalo yarn, which is not impressive til you handle the washed swatches. super soft!
After that we headed to Babetta's. packed wall to wall with yarn and so many types of fiber and wheels for spinning! brooke our spinning maven would love to go there!
Frog Pond knits was a nice place but their chix with stix group was meeting and it was packed! there was a guy there who was taught by his british nanny to knit at the age of five and uses 00000000 size needles. 8 aught!!! for lace. gorgeous! our last stop was Filati. 3,600 sq ft of yarn and books. their clearance section was bigger than some of the stores we had been to. i stocked up mostly on old issues of interweave. was tempted to buy koigu and give it a try since every one raves about it, but found orange cashmerino for jessica instead. (her signature colour) filati's staff also was a fan of knitique's so they obviously are a good choice!
we had such a wonderful time! Thank you for a lovely day. next post.... the Stash Enhancements...
oh, guess which store had black market KNOCK OFF addi turbo's..... the shock! the horror! the disgust!
my birthday present from 2 wonderful friends. the namaste needle binder.

look how nicely they hold the light up needles from my bestest friend, lee. brooke...slumber party so we can knit in the dark?????
