buttons...

Project spectrum's colour for this month is BLUE

cuz my birthday is coming....

June 10 is Worldwide knit in public day. the gang is meeting at Terry Ash park to knit... cuz it is across the street from the LYS!!! duh!

What else would you knit with? Darryl Hannah used a sharpie. what is the weirdest thing you have ever used to knit with? leave a comment!

SP8

yesterday my dad called cuz bert the postman gave him my packages for me. notice it is plural? i got a fabulous pattern for felted iris' from Crazy Yarn Lady, along with purse forms that were like $1.80. Talia thinks these are great new toys.

My very first SP8 package came from Ma. which is fun cuz my last 2 pals i sent to hailed from the same state. (hi stacy and mini!)
inside were the covetous amelia riatte sock trio!!!!!! some gorgeous handpaint sock yarn in perfect colours. i can not wait to try it out! i have never used a handpainted sock yarn so it will have to be for something very special.

we saw todd agnew last night. i had no idea he was such a great speaker! he also sang a little U2 and rich mullins. we brought tirzah and kezzi with us. he sings tirzah's favourite song. i was worried he wouldn't get to it, but it was his final song. yea! he sings grace like rain, which is pretty much the meaning of talia's name. so we say it is her song.
it was a very nice night. jon carried tali around trying to pick up girls. haha. the crazy thing is...SHE WENT with him. she goes to no one!!! she was with him for about 30 min! it was crazy. we all know he is from cherry and almond streets on the planet mars.... so his alien presence must have intrigued her.

catchup

My project spectrum and knitting the classics project are combined. Green mary jane's. i love these! i think they are from piddleloop?
Kezzi's hedgepig in green and "eye-popping" purple also goes with may's colours. if you got the free ball of bernat disco, it makes a crazy hedgehog!
Mini sent me a wonderful prize of self striping yarn for her "guess my heritage" contest. it is lovely! thank you miss mini!
while in chico we stopped by heartstings...the only yarn store open now on monday's. Roni caught me there, heehee. (what can i say, the discount they give me makes up for the gas) Roni's felted companion bag turned out really great! tirzah picked out wool for alison's hedgehog. not too boy, not too girl for the baby. plus they ordered circular needle I.D. tags for me. so no more knitting one sock on a 5 and the other on a 3! plus i got a noni pattern that i have been wanting to try. left coast knitter's convinced me to splurge.
i finally got a mountain of stuff mailed. i mailed half and dad mailed the other half, so my swaps should be taken care of for awhile. here are the girls and hedgehogs with their new safety eyes and noses. bella's isnt done yet, but she thought you would like to see her new shirt. :-)

Michaela's tank top. M'kay, also seen at brooke's unbirthday party, has been making a chikami of black alpaca punch from alpaca with a twist. US 3&6 circulars. She even did the K1,P1 ribbing! Lovely shaping, girlie! good job! (note the way the blocking board is sucking the moisture from the tank? very cool!)

dinner for 8 or how a mom looses her mind on a daily basis

Today my in my PObox was a cute tiny box of tea. my tea chef sample. Wuyi Oolong
So here is my recipe for the month of may "Anise day is Mother's Day"

Meat -what ever is on sale and has enough for 8 people
1 fennel bulb
1 pkg of plum tomatoes
2 globe artichokes
balsamic vinegar
olive oil
sea salt
worchestershire sauce
rice
saffron

brew a strong cup of tea. trust me do this first! Use Adagio's Wuyi Oolong

place the slabs of meat into a bowl drizzle baslamic vinegar, olive oil and worchestershire over meat while holding baby on left hip (right handed mama). it will be 2-3 Tbsp of each but since you have only 1 hand you can't really measure. take the Wuyi Oolong tea leaves from the brew cup of tea and toss them in too. throw some sprigs of fennel on top and that wonderful salt shaker rabbit thingy...the one that you can do with one hand, 3 squeezes over the meat in the bowl.
carefully toss in fridge!
cuz it is easy this way.... measure 2 cups rice 4 c water toss in a microwavable bowl with 5 tea leaves and 5 lil saffron stamens and a tsp of olive oil. nuke it for 20 -25 min
by this time you will set baby down on a blanket to play with some toys. pbs has a nice show for the kids with weird creatures using math to save cyber worlds for the other kids to watch.
rinse artichokes and trim spikes. cut one in half. carefully cut center feathery chokes out of both halves. cut in half inch silces...legnthwise! this may be the moment when you think that the electric knife sharpener was a romantic chanukah gift after all!
saute in a pan with about 2 tbsp olive oil.
inevitably the baby will cry the minute you are infront of the hot pan, so call 2nd oldest child to hold her. this is a momentary appeasement but will get the artichokes nice and golden edges without burning any babies.
by now you have remembered you needed to cut the fennel bulb in 1/4 inch slices and marinate in balsamic vinegar, olive oil and 1/3 of the cup of tea.
the baby is now screaming cuz she can see her mother but can't touch her. So throw the meat in an oven safe baking dish..do not for get to actually turn on the oven so it will be cooked by the time daddy gets home!!! this is very important unless you plan steak tartar as the main dish.
place in oven and retrieve baby from the 9 yr old.
call oldest child to carefully halve tomatoes and let those marinate in more balsamic vinegar and salt.

is the baby fed and sleeping now? thank G-d!
drink the rest of the Wuyi Oolong tea and catch your breath!

daddy will call you to let you know he is half way home and the phone will wake up the baby. this is better than setting the clock on the stove to remind you to check the meat you tossed in the oven!
carefully later artichokes fennel and tomates, add a side of the rice. explain the the kids how yes this is what we are eating for dinner, we can not live on chicken niggets and yogart!!!! if child #3 says "mmm. i smell smoke. is dinner ready?" you will know the meat is no longer med-well but WELL beyond done and ready to be plated as well. serve to family with the new invisible grape koolaid that doesnt stain!!!! and eat a nice cold dinner while holding a baby. "um, honey??? could you cut my steak?"

when a boy looks like this , you know you need to....

take a little off the top...the back...the sides...

with the left over boy hair

add some cascade 220, and left over hair can be made into a fabulous felted friend!

tirzah made the pink one herself. tirzah's also has crystal palace squiggle which was a great touch!

mother's day

so it started off rough, but by the time we got to my parents for the bbq and got to sit in the hot tub...all was good. bella gave me a "valentine"...heehee the kids made really cute stuff.
with my mom's present i made her a felted rose from the n.e."felted flowers" book. it turn out really nice. i want to make a few more so when i felt the hedgepigs this week i am gonna add some more swatches for roses.

i have some really fun people as pal's in the many swap i am doing. finally found a green postcard for project spectrum. so i can get that sent out.
oh, hurray we got a pool table on it's way to my house. which for any one has seen lew and tommy play fisher price pool at our house....will know this is very awesome!

this made me laugh...no offense to acrylic...

we have alot of great buttons!
it has been really neat to see what all you guys can make!
my dad tried to teach me computer coding once, i think i was 12.
i thought it was a useless thing to know for my life....
now, like math, i realize how much it could enhance my craftiness.

i devour books.
since i am reading anyway, i joined this.

update: sp8 asked what i am reading... well currently "no idle hands-the social history of hand knitting", ted dekker's "blink", pride and prejudice, and catherine and other stories both by jane austen.

Wonderful Kezzi

I finished kezzi's OSW. only a few more to go.
i love the raglan increases. they lined up so well. i added a few extra rows to the sleeves. more protection from the sun since it will be worn with tanks/bathing suits. i also bound off in pattern for ribbing. it did not specify. but I wanted extra stretch.
also i have 1 and a half socks done. need to get the heel turned on the second.

Tea Swap stashiness

For the tea swap we are to "flash" our tea stash.
Stash tea should pick up on this....

so here are my pictures. chai and jaden had fun with the camera.
but i think tali had the best time.
back posts have bella giving tali her first teaparty....or it is on the baby blog????

Cuz He is Faithful....

at 9 am sam was "laid off".
1pm a nasty letter from said boss arrives. how this man got such a Fab wife?????!!!!
at 2 pm Sam was in an interview.

being as ~*~wonderful~*~ as he is, he was hired on the spot! the tan from florida must have helped. heehee!

i talked to my mom shortly after, who was galavanting in eureka/ferndale. she was at urgent care, in a wheel chair! Poor Bubbe now has crutches and a knee brace. This has thrown some of our 50th bday bash plans in a spin. But even worse Charlie McFroggypants, the gnome, is missing.

the tension in my sock is completely wonky due to the stress of the day. so i had to rip it out!
probably b/c charlie is MIA. poor charlie!
I am so glad Sam is free of the job he has hated for so long! hurray! hurray!

also good news.... secret pal 8 is under way.
...and there was much rejoicing in blog land...
i opened my participant list. first reaction: none of my friends were my responsibility. shew!
there are over 500 people, but having so many hostesses we each have a nice managable sized group. i am very excited. we are beyond the data entry part now, and the fun can begin! ok now the work really starts.

ps-heyah! i need your email address!

sam, you just rebuilt house in florida, now what are you going to do?

um, file for unemployment.

yes, that is right. after returning home, his boss (who hired him, knowing he would be going on trips & said he had no problem with the missions trips and time off sam would need as the youth pastor, has had nothing but problems) "let him go". when sam went to mexico, canada, and now florida, The Idiot sent him off with smiles and good luck, and upon his return has cut his hours, his pay, and now laid him off.
This guy has been a jerk over the last year and treats so many people badly, including his patients, that sam is actually almost excited! hurray he is FREE!

so please pray for sam to find a new job.
he received a few calls about jobs while in florida. hopefully one will come thru.
