poverina peqilina .....a rant

ok, i do not know if i spelled it right, it has only been used verbally all my life.. "poor baby" in italian.
i am broken hearted over my poor baby being sick. she has a cough. thought it was just a cough, but it isnt. it is RSV. 10 yrs ago my 1st baby had RSV. it was when it was an epidemic in colorado springs and several babies died.
so more than that i am PISSED. for 3 winters i hav egone to church and watched everyone get sick. so when i stayed home the 1st month, everyone made a huge deal about me over reacting. so wed the kids go to church. there is a new kid...hacking all over the place. by sat afternoon everyone was sick. every church i have ever been to has had the "do not drop off your child if they have a cough, a runny nose..unless clear, or had a fever in the last 24 hrs" policy.
our church is over half elderly, people on chemo and radiation treatments, and a little baby who has had heart surgery. i pray he is not sick too. it is absolutely stupid for people to show up sick. usually it just pisses me off cuz my kids are prone to fever seizures, so a virus at one house means cat scans, mri's and emergency room visits at our house.
so i keep asking about making a policy....hasnt happened yet...
so if 1 person whines about the attendance drop at sunday school, i do not want to hear it! we will be back after the rainy season..so may????
because of bella's asthma we may send her to my mother's so it doesnt make her any worse.
(once they have RSV they are more likely to develope asthma. so pray for about that too.)

What is RSV? Respiratory Syncytial Virus

RSV is spread from respiratory secretions through close contact with infected persons or contact with contaminated surfaces or objects. Infection can occur when infectious material contacts mucous membranes of the eyes, mouth, or nose, and possibly through the inhalation of droplets generated by a sneeze or cough. In temperate climates, RSV infections usually occur during annual community outbreaks, often lasting 4 to 6 months, during the late fall, winter, or early spring months. Most children recover from illness in 8 to 15 days.
The majority of children hospitalized for RSV infection are under 6 months of age. RSV also causes repeated infections throughout life.
RSV bronchiolitis is one of the severe illnesses caused by RSV and is associated with clinical signs and symptoms of small airway obstruction.4 Bronchiolitis begins with mild symptoms of an upper respiratory tract infection and progresses to include cough, wheeze, onset of dyspnea, increased respiratory rate and retractions of the respiratory muscles, indicating lower respiratory tract involvement.1 Airway obstruction can be extremely dangerous, especially in infants who have smaller peripheral airways than adults, so it is important to know the warning signs of bronchiolitis in order to manage the illness before it becomes life-threatening.
The most severe infections caused by RSV are prevalent in infants aged 2 to 6 months, but children of any age with underlying cardiac or pulmonary disease or who are immunocompromised are at risk for serious complications from RSV infection.
RSV is also one of the most common causes of pneumonia in young children. The incidence is greatest from birth to age three.
Development of an RSV vaccine is a high research priority, but none is yet available.

Sweater for Lynda. The baby this is for was born 3 weeks early, so I had mom do some of it for me earlier this week. i finished the sleeves tonight. Tomorrow i drop it off and get paid for it...just in time since after my conversations with heather, my lace project will need bamboo rather than addi's due to their slipperiness.

a lovely box!

today the post office had 2 package slips for me.
(1 from my MIL with new pants for sam. the sp6 box still is MIA)
the other a lovely box of lush fiber from jillian. i guessed really close to her stash ammount for her contest. and so enclosed were the following:
a piddleloop pouch (lined as fun as the exterior) lorna laces angel (angora) , a sock pattern, about 560 yards of super lovely
hand painted schaeffer yarn "anne", and 2 oz of lavendar eucalan.

the downside... i took my yarn to my LYS, cuz the let me wind there... the winder is broken! the spare was sold a week ago to a desperate customer. so my children...thank goodness there are so many of them! will be my fiber slaves. extending their little arms so mommie can wind her wool into balls.

thanks again jillian for the lovely package!
picture will be added tomorrow...batteries charging! added!

it is pouring rain...again... so we are trying to warm up this morning.
sam is at the church all day...meetings and clean up crew. (our faithful church custodian is going thru cancer treatments, so everyone is pitching in)
Ashleigh and tanya sent me a wonderful gift certif. to bath and body. so i went down and bought a huge after christmas half off basket. my SP5 got me hooked on moonlight pathways. plus there are now 2 other scents i like after my trip yesterday. while there we looked again for tirzah's coat. she had left it in the food court when we took shelynn dress shopping. no sign of it. it had all her pins she was collecting on it, so she is very sad.
if you go, be sure to say hi to liad and the other israelis running a couple kiosks. they are very cool. and such a deal they have!
sam has an interview the 26th. please pray as we seek direction. ps 37 v 23

well, off to prepare for the class i am teaching today at the LYS. Cables.

SP7

while knitting with the girls down at knit wits, we were talking about SP7 and waiting for our pals. i come home to ... my assignment and an email from my pal!
these hostesses are very organized this time!
i am glad i posted the questions when i did, thought i would have to redate them!

so hi pal!

Spiritual kick in the butt

my child, do not expect the trials to be lighter than in the past.
why should you think the tests would be less severe?I test all things,
and there are still areas of your life that as of yet I have not touched.
Do not look for respite.
the days ahead may call for greater endurance and more robust faith than
you ever needed before. WELCOME THIS, for you must surely know how
precious are the lessons learned through such experiences. even if
you are unable to fully anticipate them with joy, you can certainly gain
an appropriate appreciation of them in retrospect.
apply your heart to learn wisdom. this goal transcends every other aim,
and any other good that comes out of a pressure period is an added
blessing in excess.

seek me above all else.

this has to be one of the coolest things i have seen, though a bit pricey! sam always gets annoyed with me turning on the interior light in the car so i can knit at night in the car. they make several different sizes. i wonder how heavy they are and how smooth the finish is. if any one has tried them, COMMENT!

bella and her babe

evelyn woodhead's speed reading course

in the next few months several books are being released that i already knew i wanted.
but today i opened a flyer to see a new book by dekker and peretti together will be out in mid march. "the house" takes place in a supposedly abandoned house in alabama with a maniac killer in pursuit. obviously i will make sam read it aloud with me cuz i dont do scary well by myself.
sam is my hero.
so another book to add to my amazon list.
which i just put a whole bunch on the wishlist this week. so i guess i am a little book hungry. the sue's just asked if i had read showdown by ted dekker. i haven't. i am behind. cant wait for tax $ to come...after we eventually file, ofcourse.
jan sent home a new one last night for me to borrow. and sam and i are going thru blink (we both wanted to read it, this way there is no waiting).

sammy

RAFAH, Gaza Strip - Hundreds of angry Palestinians streamed into Egypt on Wednesday after militants with stolen bulldozers broke through a border wall, and two Egyptian troops were killed and 30 were wounded by gunfire in the rampage
The Palestinian Authority is turning into the Palestinian Anarchy," Gissin told The Associated Press. "You have armed gangs that are controlling the fate of 3 million Palestinians."
Palestinian gunmen burst into a Rafah house early Wednesday and tried to kidnap the parents of Rachel Corrie, who was killed in 2003 as she protested the impending demolition of a house in the southern Gaza town
Also Wednesday, Palestinians fired at least six rockets from Gaza at Israel, the military said

Rock Star Diva

i am not sure when it started, but her middle name has been said "roses" since she was tiny.
so last night watching her play an actual song on her acoustic bass and singing happy birthday, realizing she is 9, when i said roses, it hit me... some day she will be too grown up to be miss 'roses'.
it is all much too sad.

naked stix...ok how about half naked stix by 2006?

i got everything done but the 2 hats. then while searching for a needle so i could start a new project since the deadline is over...heehee... i found the poor still half dropped clapotios, waiting to be finished. how sad is that? i havent thought about it at all since summer.
syrena's scarf is not on that list either, cuz i had hoped to finish it before christmas and didnt want her to see it on the list. oops. not done either.
so i go into the new year with 4 projects as yet undone, they are:

1 the celtic hat i ripped out 4 times argh..dont knit cables late at night!!!!
2 chai's beanie
3 clapotios
4 syrena's cable scarf

but 20 other projects were taken off the needles before the ball dropped for Pacific Time.
so the KAL was well worth it. deadlines, how i hate you! but how much would i get done with out them?

and note, my goal was not "6 kids by 2006" that just kinda happened on its own.
