PHONE CALLS IN THE DARK

At 5:16 this morning, the phone rings. having not gone to bed til about 1 am...due to sam-not the baby, we didnt exactly jump up and get it in time. the phone call was from Kmart. (the only dept store up here) so we are trying to figure out why they would be calling us. PLEASE G-D DONT LET THE YOUTH GROUP HAVE ROBBED THE STORE!!!!!!
so this morning we call them back, turns out the store manager who gets there around 3 am , did not realize what time it was, and had wanted to let Chai know he won a giant Disney stuffed animal!
too funny!
hurray for Chai! and Tirzah who filled them out for each of the kids one day.

Bibs for Talia
you got a lil sumpin' right there

Baby socklings

i made these tiny toe up short row heel socks for the baby.
we decided to try them on her feet. GOOD thing!
they fit her feet perfect right now. and probably not for long.
i got a set of 1 1/2 DPNS when we went to sonora.
so i am going to try a pair on those. the others were size 0.
i may have to jump clear up to a size 2. sigh.
my 8 yr olds feet are about the same size as mine. 1/2" apart.
she is already stealing my shoes. like tonight! and i saw my hello kitty
satin sandal things were out. so when the ultra sound showed
this one had big feet i tried to gauge them. but considering sam's
size 12 feet and my brother's size 13, and bubbe's and her sister's...
my size 6 shoes are out of place! so i should probably jump to the size 2's.

our poor friends' house caught fire yesterday.
the only good thing about disasters is the chance to start over.
so at least she can going shopping, she looks like she has lost
lots of baby weight lately and needed new clothes anyways.
it is still fire season in california. this week is proof!
we, too, had a small fire this week. i melted a disposable plastic lid in
my oven, which had black smoke and flames. trying to do too many things at once.
i told all the kids to go outside, removed the dinner, put out the flames and THEN
it occured to me that i should get the BABY OUT OF THE HOUSE! duh!!!!
so we ate our supper (what was left) on the porch...with the baby!
it was sukkot...you are supposed to eat outside anyways.
i will now secure the baby first, then extinguish the fire! ( it was small and contained.)

Thank G-d I'm a Baptist Jew!

"Presbyterian church has renounced Israel...is withdrawing support from Israel...considers Israel a racist and apartheid state."
WorldNetDaily.com
"Incredibly, the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA) joins the list of religious groups committing evil. In the name of Jesus, it has called for the economic strangulation of Israel. They have equated the Jewish state with South Africa during apartheid and called for a universal divestment from it.
The Presbyterians are the first Christian church to do this, and, ironically, the divestment campaign came the very week that the Roman Catholic Church signed a document equating anti-Zionism with anti-Semitism. It takes a particularly virulent strain of moral idiocy and meanness to single out Israel, not Arafat's Palestinian Authority, or terror-supporting, death-fatwa-issuing Iran, or women-subjugating Saudi Arabia, for condemnation and economic ruin. One of the most decent societies, one of the most liberal democracies in the world, is fighting for its life against Islamic fascists who praise the Holocaust and publicly call for the annihilation of Israel – and the Presbyterian Church calls for strangling Israel!
Apartheid state? This Goebbels-like Big Lie, concocted by the world's anti-Israel and anti-American Left and by those who want Israel destroyed, is now an official doctrine of the Presbyterian Church. Israel is a nation whose population is one-quarter non-Jewish Arab, with the same rights, including voting and its own political parties, as Jewish citizens; a nation whose second official language is Arabic, the language of those who wish to annihilate the Jewish country; a nation that occupies a tiny sliver of land known as the West Bank only because Jordan, overwhelmingly composed of Palestinians, invaded Israel in 1967 in order to destroy it and thereby lost its ownership of the West Bank. This is one of the morality-clarifying issues of our time. To single out Israel for economic strangulation while that good nation fights for its life is an act of such immorality that holding that view precludes one from the title "good" or "God-fearing," for if they are true to God, I am false to Him. If they are good, I who support Israel am bad. If their Bible teaches them to strangle Israel and support Yasser Arafat, I am guided by a different Bible. They have drawn a line. It is now time for good people, Presbyterians specifically, Christians generally, to distance themselves vigorously and publicly from this morally sick church. And it is time, once again, for Jews to realize that the enemies of the Jews in our day are to be found on the Christian Left while their friends are far more often on the Christian Right. Many serious Christians ask, "What Would Jesus Do?" If Jesus were here, he would probably be at Israeli hospitals comforting fellow Jews who were deliberately blinded, paralyzed and brain-damaged by Jew- and Christian-hating Palestinian terrorists. He would surely not be with the Jews' enemies, among whom are now the leaders of the Presbyterian Church, USA." -Dennis Prager

The Anglican Communion, with 75 million people worldwide, is considering such a move, too.

Socks that Rock

how fun would it be to make socks with yarn for each of the kids birthstones? or in malachai's case azuremalachite cuz his favourite color is blue? garnet for kezzi , jade for jaden, iam not sure of which for the opal girls, maybe pebbles, cotton candy? Tali's world is green and purple right now. lucy in the sky with diamonds for bella our april girl. instead of mother's rings we could have mother's socks and stripe them.
Sam went to Chico cuz he had to go Hot Topic and he brought these home for me. Reading material for the house bound!

Waiting on Forever

i know i am not even due yet. 18 or 20th depending if you go by the ultrasound... but with 3 children on the 14ths of a month, i figured i would be posting pictures of a baby by now! instead i have been knitting up booties- purple ones and white(erika knight's) , finished my knitty.com baby tart hat....(started when i barely knew how to knit last year...still hard on the wrists! all my purl stitches were backwards so it was weird getting it going again), working on a simple baby beanie, & washed all the baby clothes. i did about 8 rows more on grandpaw's alpaca shawl. still a long way to go. dishes all done, laundry caught up, baby furniture assembled. but no contractions anymore. grrr!
i stayed home from church today, tired of being told how wide i am carrying the baby, how much i am waddling, etc... so i went to my mom's with the sick kids (i hate winter here and church nursery germs. the girls are gonna have to get flu shots or quit helping out) and while the kids played we watched "the traveling pants". very cute, made me wish joan of arcadia wasn't cancelled this season. ;-( we had a nice day. then the kids trashed the house and i had to start over!
sam brought me a present from my MPBC secret sister for our anniversary...its 4 days off. due date #2 actually! it had all kids of fun things in it. it was a great surprise! stamps, scrapbook pages, stickers.... if i knew the baby was not coming i woulda made sam buy Eagles tickets for tuesday night! it was what i wanted to do for our anniversary. now i am hoping for hospital food cuz tali will be here.

hot rod birthdays

for their birthday party, grandpaw al and tirzah shared an ice cream cake. it slightly melted cuz we got caught up in a game. my mom is famous for her bday party games. so we had a bit of a mess. but it was very yummy. as for guests, judy joined all of us. our group is a party on its own!

tirzah was spoiled of course. but the best present was what my parents got grandpaw! back around the age of 5, my dad had ruined the hot rod magazine that grandpaw was in. he was only 27 when he was setting NHRA records. dad found a lot on ebay that had the mag in it! so 44 yeas later, dad gave him an uncolored magazine. i think its 1962. we are still looking for the little models to build his car that they made.
if you look at the pictures he still looks the same! seriously! the men in my family barely age. my dad still looks like he did in high school.
happy 10th and 69th birthdays!!!

Just incase i am having the baby i wanted to get her up on the blog!

i feel bad that we arent doing a big party for her 10th, but i am not in any shape (haha) to do it and neither is bubbe who has been moving.
so happy birthday honey!

at lunch sam stopped at the post office.

each of the kids got a new coat from their grandma in colorado. plus some baby things.
and then i got my pal package from the gimmee some needles exchange.
it was very fun. bella says the knitting fur is bunny soft. and can you see how cute the ladybug marker looks? very fabulous! and rosewood needles, and notes, and stitch holders! which i keep loosing! thank you so much. my pal is virginia! i like it all very much! thankyou!

the count down

so about 8 days til my due date. having had babies at 37 to 42 weeks, she can come anytime now!!!! averaged out a few days before the due date seems right. and since we have 3 kids born on the 14th.... how does friday sound?
pulled out the raspberry tea and my evening primrose oil. so we will see if my contractions progress beyong annoying.
i started another sock on US 1 1/2 (2.5mm) needles. it is almost done. hope to have the pair complete by tomorrow's dr appt.

i dont know how the orthodox keep these kippah's on little boys heads. being that it is the days of awe the boys are covered, but almost lost 1 at the park and one to sommersaults, and one to tree climbing. it doesnt help that the runaway prone kippah is green! gotta dig out the bright stuff and make them some more that wont blend in.

sam is out with the homeless prone "child" trying to find him a bed for the night.
hopefully attaching a grow up & get a goal lecture
i am due! we can not rescue him this week! so here is to the successful relocating! (pray hard)
pastor appreciation includes cake and cards, YOUTH pastor appreciation gives you an empty gas tank, some one to empty the pantry, and door bells and phones that sound at 2 am.
if you can survive youth ministry with your faith intact and some sanity left, you can do anything i am convinced!

Stats for youth group

One of the youth group girls brought this up for discussion. feel free to skip it unless you are interested.

Today we have 25 categorized STDs, compared to 5 in 1950.
1 in 4 sexually active teens will contract an STD this year.
Many STDs are non-curable and lead to death.
Suicide and depression are interrelated teen issues.
Parents are the #1 influence in teen behavior!
Some infections have no symptoms and can cause sterility.
Married, faithful sex is the best sex available.
Nearly 900,000 American teens get pregnant every year.
Condoms are not infection prevent.
Self-discipline and self-control are required to use a condom…
STDs cost Americans over $16 billion annually

from pure revolution:
"Do 50% of all first-time marriages end in divorce? NOPE! The fact is, 50% of ALL marriages end in divorce. But of FIRST-TIME marriages, 70% are completely healthy and fulfill their vows! It’s the 30% who divorce, remarry, often divorce again (sometimes repeating this cycle) that when thrown into the “all marriages” statistical pool bring the percentage down to nearly 50%."

"Abstinence is called “faithfulness training.” No one wants to be in a relationship with someone who is constantly unfaithful. We must train for that.
Another thought for you. Do you think there is a difference between “purity” and “perfection?” We think so. But chew on what that difference is. Our challenge is for you to embrace a lifestyle of purity. It’s not an expectation for people to be perfect."
"Today sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are much more prevalent than decades earlier. One in four sexually active teens will contract an infection. Today most of these are viral (non-curable). They can DIE from this! And oral sex (very popular in Jr. High & High Schools) is not considered “sex.” Yet, large numbers of teens are getting STIs from this activity. Why is it not the same as when we were young? They can die from it today. And many do."

"The NUMBER ONE INFLUENCE in a teen’s life today to prevent risk behaviors was PARENTS! Do you care? Then, do they know it? Show it."
(personally i think it should also say the #1 cause of risk behaviours in teens is their parents. we did find family plans for drug rehab while in Sac. perfect for the green triangle! which is where we live.)

what is on and off my needles

the baby wrap sweater(simple knits for cherished babies by erika knight) is done now but waiting on the trim to be sewn on. the trim is a darker rose color with gold laced thru. i will probably give it to my mama to do. heehee made from polo yarn. see the magnet board from sp5 NIKKNITS marking my spot?

grandpaw's shawl is actually twice the width now
about 1/4 of the way done. so thanksgiving/christams depending on how talia will feel about mama's knitting. (it is taking along time but is so soft! i love the alpaca silk! combo) knitpicks shimmer lace weight yarn.

the purple hat(knitting for two) has a vanilla one and pale cream one to go with it now. the last one is for the simchat habat. (joy of a daughter ceremony when my family will be here from israel, around thanksgiving time.) bubbe is of course making the dress like the other girls' and she mad the bris outfits for the boys too.
"Oh them lions they can eat my body but they can't (slinky) swallow my soul. They keep on trying to crash my party but they can't (slinky) get control."

dont be pimpin'

my new hoodie. it is really funny! sam switched one night to the devil is a ho, dont be his pimp.
http://dontbepimped.com/

there were 2 other really great clothing companies one truth and Get The Word Out. all my kids have beanies from the latter, who also has a bunch of really cute kids. they rocked til they dropped at the 3rd Day concert.

WOW

we are home, boy it was awesome! row 2 for david crowder band, row 4 for third day and starfield, 4th ave jones was really cool...the violinist was intense (hip-rock-soul music) , chris tomlin and steven curtis chapman just absolutely bless me. i get so excited when we see them and here these guys are praying over us and excited to be with us!? it was so incredibly humbling to worship with chris tomlin and steven curtis chapman and have them speak directly to my usband's heart what he needed to hear. can you imagine what heaven will be like? i am dying to put pictures up! some guys with us SANG on stage with Third Day. it was very fun! those guys are crazy! (i did some mini videos of the shows.) kendall payne is really very sweet too. i think she won everyone's hearts. oh chris tomlin sang billie jean my michael jackson! i video'd it! it was really funny! i would love the pre-show weirdness and hokey pokey stuff that chris tomlin's and david crowder's band sang! oh chris got the whole place doing Father Abraham (about 3,500 people!) while we waited for the show to start one night.
then everyone knows how incredible david crowder is! we are reading his book now. did you know he wrote a book? he did. he is so nice! we were having pizza on the terrace and he was just walking by.
we got a bday card and had everyone sign it for tirzah since the baby is due for her bday week. its a secret so SHHH! but it is my most favourite thing we did. it caused the starfield guys who are just about all newlyweds to ask about my fertility. HAHA! weird experience! it made me forget to tell them about the menataurs. the song is supposed to say angels and men adore, but i swear it sounds like menataurs!
for the stupid human tricks i was gonna just stand there and say my talent is i am the failure rate of birth control. ;-)
we ofcourse skipped Kutless and saw panic squad. we hung out with them all weekend. they are an improv comedy group from vancouver. i was in tears laughing so hard. sam and chris tried to get them to waddle behind me in a parade. very funny, guys. and there were some weird ostrich experiences. if we go back to surrey next summer we are gonna hook up with them.
well that is a short recap. my fave speaker was steve fitzhugh NFL player who now lives in DC. he was AWESOME!!!!
well off to the dr's to see how much i did not behave this weekend. (my ankles swelled up massively.!)
